A TEACHER has won £5,000 to help ignite a passion for science among her pupils.
Angharad Pass from Tranmere Park Primary School in Guiseley has been awarded the money as part of the annual Let Teachers SHINE competition.
The scheme, run by the education charity SHINE and supported by The Times Educational Supplement, offers funding to teachers who have ideas to help disadvantaged children succeed in English, maths or science.
Ms Pass, who is science subject leader and specialist leader in education, is one of 21 finalists. She said “I am so pleased to have received the funding from SHINE which will allow us to work together with Leeds University, School of Medicine to develop Medicine in the Primary Science Classroom.”
The project will be run as a year-long pilot from September 2019 to September 2020, and follow on funding could be available from the charity.
