PARKSIDE School’s year 11 prom was “fantastically” popular with students and staff.

The teenagers headed off to the Headley Venue in Thornton for the plush event to mark the end of their time at the school on GCSE studies.

School spokesman Majella McColgan said: “The event was fantastically well-attended, the weather was great and everyone looked amazing.

“The atmosphere was also terrific and was a great way to mark the end of an era for our students, and also some of our staff.

“Congratulations to our Prom King and Queen, Callum Dean and Laura Imeson, who proved a popular choice and received a standing ovation from both students and staff.”

The Prom Committee had raised money by selling doughnuts on Thursdays throughout the year. They raised enough money to pay for balloons, decorations, and prizes given out during the evening.

Thomas Douglas and Jayna Patel, head boy and girl at the Cullingworth school, thanked the staff for helping them throughout the important GCSE year.

The pair also gave out the awards, which were announced by head of year Dan Hall.
