DIGNITARIES have attended the Otley Town Mayor’s Civic Service.
Councillor Peter Jackson held the event at Our Lady and All Saints Church on Sunday, July 14. Those attending included Deputy Lieutenant of Yorkshire Roger Bowers, the Mayors and Mayoresses of Ripon and Morley, Honorary Citizens, community groups and local councillors.
Cllr Jackson said: “It was a great honour to have so many attend and I thank Father Lawrie for conducting the service and presenting me with a Bible. Many thanks to the Mayors and Mayoresses of Ripon and Morley and the many honorary citizens and community group representatives for attending.
“Westbourne House provided an elegant setting and a lovely buffet afterwards and the afternoon was made perfect by my granddaughter and her husband coming up from Wales. A good friend, Joseph O’Brien, was also a huge hit as he entertained us with his singing.”
He also thanked his wife, Town Mayoress Fiona, and councillors for their support.
