FRIENDS of the Dales regular volunteer Bernard Peel will lead a guided walk of about six miles around the lead mines of Yarnbury and Grassington Moor on Friday, July, 19.

Meet at The Fountaine Linton at 10 am for a welcome “breakfast bacon roll” and tea/coffee, then leave in shared cars to park up near the start of the walk.

Bernard will explain about the history of lead mining during the walk, which is mainly moorland tracks with some rougher paths across access land. Views of the smelt flue chimney and Blea Beck Dams. About three and a half hours (leisurely pace).

Boots essential. Pack a drink and warm waterproof layers. Well behaved dogs on leads welcome. About 3pm return to the pub for a superb two course hot lunch.
