CHILDREN from Menston Primary School enjoyed a ‘camping day’ in which they learned a lot about the outdoors and also had a lot of fun.
Activities included marshmallow toasting, setting up a camp fire, pitching tents, paddling and picnicking. The school incorporates outdoor learning all year round, including, den building, pond dipping, gardening and hunting for minibeasts.
Headteacher Iain Jones said: “ It was a lovely sunny day today for camping activities, but our children learn outdoors all year round in all weathers and they love it.”
The school has earned the LOTC (Learning Outside the Classroom) accreditation and the Woodland Trust’s Green Schools award for its work to promote outdoor learning.
