LABOUR is ‘still a party of Brexit’ despite a recent policy shift.

That is the claim being made by the Liberal Democrats Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Leeds North West, Kamran Hussain. It follows Labour’s recent announcement that it will now be calling for a second referendum to prevent ‘no deal or a damaging Tory Brexit’.

The move has been welcomed by some but doubts remain about what Labour’s position would be should the party find itself in charge of the Brexit process after winning a general election.

Mr Hussain said: “Jeremy Corbyn can pretend all he likes that the Labour Party are finally moving towards backing the Liberal Democrat policy of a People’s Vote, but it is clear it is still his intention to negotiate a damaging Brexit deal if he gets the keys to number ten.

“Labour must start being transparent with people. Any Brexit deal, whoever it is negotiated by, will damage our country. It will mean job losses, problems for our NHS, and more time wasted on not tackling the biggest issues facing the UK..”
