CHILDREN’S author Tom Palmer cut the ribbon at the official opening of newly-refurbished library at Burley Oaks Primary School in Burley-in-Wharfedale. Funds were raised by the PTA to support the new library, which was many months in the planning. For the official opening on July 1st, award-winning children’s author Tom Palmer fired up the children’s love of reading in a special assembly and cut the ribbon. Children who had purchased some of his books then had the chance to meet Tom and have their books signed before exploring the newly-fitted library. Tom said: “It was an honour to open the library for the children, who asked some fantastic questions about my life as a writer!” Tom is very popular Burley Oaks pupils, who love his books about sport and history and have also used some of his Youtube clips in lessons on how to edit and plan their writing. Library coordinator Jo Kendall and head teacher Claire Lee welcomed Tom.
