A NEW President has taken over at the Rotary Club of Otley Chevin.

Bill Baker has succeeded outgoing president George Duncan in the role.

Mr Duncan, reflecting on a busy 12 months as president, said: “The year started well with an inter-club sports event at Rawdon where Ilkley Rotary Club joined us for a very convivial night.

“The biggest event in our year then followed with the 30th Charter Dinner at the Chevin Country Park hotel with our memorable guest speaker, HM Deputy Lieutenant for West Yorkshire David Pearson, talking about his job.

“We also had a joint quiz with our Inner Wheel Club at Bramhope, which went very well, and our most popular event, the Wine Bluff, at our home venue.”

The club began 2019 by making a £750 donation - raised through carol singing - to St George’s Crypt.
