ALEX Sobel is celebrating his second anniversary as MP for Leeds North West.

The Labour MP was elected in June, 2017 and set out his stall to be ‘an MP for everyone, rooted in the community’. His election came at a turbulent time with Brexit dominating politics.

Mr Sobel, however, has been keen to shine the spotlight on other topics and in particular environmental issues. He has been nominated twice for the Greenest MP award and sits on Parliament’s Environmental Audit Committee. He has also highlighted the problem of plastic pollution and called for action to improve air quality and public transport, while raising the issue of school budget cuts.

He said: “It has been the greatest privilege of my life serving my home constituency in Parliament. I will continue to work as hard as I can to make Parliament work for my constituents and to give them a voice at this hugely turbulent time.”

Mr Sobel has had over 700 Parliamentary written questions answered, held 194 surgeries and - with his team - completed10,000 pieces of casework over his two years.
