A CONTESTANT from the Great British Bake Off will visit Hawksworth Primary School next weekend.

This year’s Summer Fair at the C of E school takes place on Saturday, June 22 when Sandy Docherty will judge a baking competition.

Yeadon-based Sandy - a hit when she appeared on the TV show in 2015 - will also be letting people sample her baking.

She said: “I am looking forward to judging the baking and will focus on four key areas: appearance, texture, taste and skill level.”

The PTA organised fair, a fundraiser to help provide additional facilities, runs from 11am to 1pm and its baking contest is open to all. Entrance costs £2.50 and participants should bring their baking along in time for judging at 12.30pm.

Other attractions will include a climbing wall, penalty shootout and a visit from Chris at GoWild Outdoors, Headteacher Dale Norris said: “We would love to see people from the community attend, there really is something for everyone.”
