BRADFORD & Bingley secured their place in the third round of the Priestley Shield with a nail-biting victory over Baildon in a rain-affected tie.

Their last-wicket pair were trying to deny Baildon victory when the weather intervened and led to them winning on a comparison of scores.

Bradford & Bingley, who had recovered from 16-3, were 118-9 in reply to Baildon’s 137 when rain brought an end to their innings after 37.3 overs.

The Wagon Lane side were boosted by a good all-round performance from their promising young all-rounder Lachlan Doidge.

He took 3-26 and was supported by Muhammed Shakoor (3-28) in a Baildon innings in which Seif Hussain made 40.

Doidge continued his good work by making 35 in a Bradford & Bingley innings which saw leg spinner Jamie Abbott take 3-10.

Bradford & Bingley’s reward for victory is a home tie with New Farnley in the third round on Sunday, June 23.

Northowram Fields set up a third-round trip to Hartshead Moor after winning a close-fought encounter with Keighley by eight runs.

Ben Grech was the cornerstone of the Northowram Fields innings with 82 as his side were bowled out for 143 when they batted first.

Ashley Robinson (4-24) and Louis Wilkinson (3-19) bowled well for Keighley.

Young Farhan Hussain proved to be the key performer with the ball for Northowram Fields. He took 4-38 as the home side were dismissed for 135, Alex Towler top scoring with 35.
