OTLEY Parish Church is preparing to hold a three-day flower festival.

The event, the church’s third annual flower festival, will see Otley All Saints filled with all kinds of inventive floral and craft displays from Friday, June 28 to Sunday, June 30.

The displays have been inspired by the theme of I Am and will explore the nature and character of God and of people.

The main festival, which is free with donations welcomed, will be preceded by a paid-for preview evening on Thursday, June 27.

Running from 7pm to 9pm, the preview costs £5 which includes a drink, canapes and live music.

For tickets send an e-mail to info@otleyparishchurch.org or call (01943) 465927.

Viewing for the main festival, meanwhile will be from 10am to 4pm on the Friday and Saturday and from noon to 4pm on the Sunday.

Light refreshments, plants, cards and books will be on sale throughout.

Donations collected at the event will go to the two charities that are currently being supported by the church, Caring for Life (Leeds) and Kisiizi Hospital (Uganda).

Last year’s flower festival, based on the theme of Who Put the Colours in the Rainbow?, proved a big hit attracting lots of visitors and raising £400 for good causes.

The church enlisted the help of all of Otley’s primary schools, plus local Brownies and children from its Sunday Clubs and Messy Church, to produce the event’s centrepiece - a giant, rainbow-coloured ‘carpet’ that was laid out down the middle of the building’s interior.
