THREE Otley women have had their heads shaved to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Rachael Kerr, her sister Emma Kerr and her best friend Hazel Ashton lost their locks at Otley Social Working Men’s Club on Saturday, June 1.
The shave was the highlight of a fundraising day that also included a bake sale, raffle, pony rides and stalls.
Explaining the motivation behind the event on their donation website, at fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/rachael-hazel-emma-giving-page-186, Rachael said: “We have lost loved ones to this and been affected by the ‘Big C’ in so many ways: this is our way of giving back.”
Otley Town Mayor Councillor Peter Jackson said: “It was a privilege to attend and meet three amazing ladies who had their heads shaved to raise funds for cancer research. This was a great day which brought together local residents and raised lots of funds for a great cause. “
