YEADON have extended their lead in Championship Two to 16 points by taking advantage of Jer Lane’s unbeaten start to the season coming to a juddering halt

Yeadon bagged a maximum 20 points after beating Adwalton by 157 runs while Jer Lane were left licking their wounds after being bowled out for 62 to lose by 51 runs to Bowling Old Lane.

Sarmad Hameed made a superb 111, an innings containing 20 fours, as Yeadon made 225-9 when they batted first. The pick of the Adwalton bowlers was Shoaib Rehman with 4-41.

Last season Gareth Lee was a star turn for Adwalton but on this occasion he proved to be their tormentor as he took 4-12 as they were bowled out for 68. Fellow spinner James Massheder took 4-10.

Jer Lane must have thought that a fourth win was on the cards when Ben Burkill (4-19) and Hazrat Shah (3-35) helped bowl out Old Lane for 113. Such a notion was quickly dispelled, when Arsalan Ijaz (5-24) and Arslan Mahmood (5-25) skittled them out for their lowest score of the season.

Jer Lane are one of three clubs tied on 71 points. The other two, Carlton and Hunslet Nelson, both posted comfortable wins.

Daniel White’s innings of 105, which contained five sixes and 13 fours, helped set Carlton on course for their 217-run win over Spen Victoria, but there was no doubting who sealed their success, opening bowler Jonathan Rudge with 8-24.

Thanks to Rudge, Carlton made short work of the Spen Victoria innings as they skittled them out for 64.

The Spen innings was a stark contrast to Carltons in which White shared a third-wicket stand of 151 with Daniel Ford (77) which helped their side to a post a score of 281. Kershaski Lewis chipped in with 59 too.

Glen Thompson’s haul of 5-15 helped Hunslet Nelson bowl out Buttershaw St Paul’s for 93 to secure a 61-run win. Patrick Hinchliffe top scored with 52 in the Nelson total of 154. Left-arm spinner Ben Platt took 5-33 for St Paul’s.

Sam Gardner continued his good form for Northowram Fields by taking 6-29 as he helped his side to register an 87-run win over Hopton Mills. The opening bowler was backed up by Joseph Hough (4-26) as Mills were all out for 102.

Dean Crossley (67) and Louis Cockburn (43) were the key contributors to the Northowram Fields score of 189. Michael Haley (4-34) and Umar Abbas (3-42) were the most successful Mills bowlers.

The league’s current Gordon Bowers Young Cricketer of the Year was in top form as Birstall defeated East Ardsley by five wickets to post their first win.

Josh Haynes took 7-35 with his left-arm spin as East Ardsley scored 201 batting first and hit 64 as he and fellow opener Eric Austin (87no) ensured Birstall reached their target. Peter Bowles (44) and Louie Hurley (35) top scored for East Ardsley.

An opening stand of 133 between Sam Huitema (72) and Danny Bridges (61) helped Altofts to overhaul a Liversedge total of 148-8 and inflict an eight-wicket defeat on them.
