OTLEY is preparing to stage the town’s 30th anniversary 10 Mile Road Race.

Organised by Otley Athletic Club, this year’s event will take place on Wednesday, June 12. Some 400 runners from across Yorkshire will be competing for a share of the £1,000 prize money.

The race starts at 7.30pm on Mill Way and heads to Pool-in Wharfedale, Leathley, Lindley and Farnley, finishing at Otley Cricket Club.

The 2018 run was won by the Otley club’s Scott Harrington in 56 minutes and seven seconds, with the first woman, Kate Corcoran from Skyrac AC, finishing in one hour, eight minutes and three seconds.

Race Director Ian Broadbent said: “With this being the 30th anniversary year it would be great to see the course records broken.”

The race is being sponsored by Yorkshire Runner, Club Energy, Sinclairs and Red Pepper Restaurant. Entries will be accepted on the night at the cricket club and can also be made online at www.otleyac.org.uk .
