OTLEY councillors are hoping to get more play areas improved following a major revamp of Wellcroft park.

A £160,000 refurbishment of Wellcroft, which included removing and replacing old play equipment, adding soft play flooring and installing a new perimeter fence, was recently completed.

The scheme followed lengthy talks, a contributory Otley Town Council grant and approval by Leeds City Council last year.

Ward councillors say they are happy with the results - and hopeful that further improvements could follow.

Councillor Sandy Lay (Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) said: “It has taken six years and £160,000 but at last we have got Wellcroft refurbished.

“We are also in discussion with Parks and Countryside to look at refurbishment work at other local play areas across Otley and Yeadon, including urgent work to the recently vandalised Riverdale Road Play Park in Otley.”
