A HISTORICAL walk across Otley Chevin is detailed in a new information leaflet.
The pamphlet was recently presented to Town Mayor Mary Vickers by the Friends of Chevin Forest and Walkers are Welcome Otley.
It provides information about a route that takes in a number of notable historical sites.
They include Jenny’s Cottage, Yorkgate Quarry, the Great Dib Way, Vacca Wall, the steps, the White House and Jonathan’s Orchard.
The leaflet also includes a map, route description and background information about the historical highlights of the walk, which can start from either Surprise View or Otley.
Upon receiving it the Town Mayor said she was sure the publication would help and encourage more people to explore the Chevin.
Also attending the presentation was Fran Coldrick from community radio station BCB Radio, who interviewed those present.
The walk leaflet was produced thanks to a grant from Otley Town Council.
It is available for free from a number of local outlets including Otley Library, Otley Core, Just Books and Mounsey’s.
It is also available online at www.chevinforest.co.uk and www.waw-otley.org.uk.
Friends of Chevin Forest, meanwhile, are currently developing a new website from which the leaflet plus a couple of other walks – the Geology trail and Heritage trail - will be available to download.
