AN ARTISAN sausage maker from Burley in Wharfedale has been given the seal of approval by Coeliac UK for his gluten free sausages.

Michael Oliver, who owns Primal Cuts, is now licensed by Coeliac UK to carry the crossed grain symbol on his sausages.

This means that the all-natural free range sausages are certified gluten free.

Certification involved strenuous lab testing and Michael secured EU funding to complete this part of the process with York based laboratory, FERA Science. His company was then audited and inspected.

Michael said: “Getting the approval was hard work though worth it as it is important to us to give those who need gluten free food the confidence in our products.”

In December Primal Cut became the UK’s first approved partner with US health experts, WHOLE 30.

Michael, from Otley got so fed up of searching for tasty, natural sausages, that he gave up his job as a skilled engineer to set up his own company. He says his home-made luxury sausages are 100 per cent natural, gluten-free, preservatives-free, and paleo and coeliac friendly.
