AN MP has welcomed a government pledge of more than half a million pounds to fix potholes and improve roads in Leeds.
Pudsey, Horsforth and Aireborough MP Stuart Andrew says the £541,847 investment to tackle potholes and improve road quality in the Leeds area was “great news”.
The funding was announced by Transport Secretary Chris Grayling as part of a £200 million investment. The government says £50 million will be provided directly to councils to tackle potholes and improve the road network across the country.
Mr Andrew said: “This new funding to tackle potholes and improve the condition of our roads is great news for businesses and people throughout our constituency who rely on local roads to get to work and to visit friends and family. Potholes have been a large concern for my constituents for all my time as an MP and I am glad that it is getting addressed.”
Bradford Council will be given almost £350,000 in Government funding for pothole repairs.
