TREE maintenance work has been carried out to open up Pool-in-Wharfedale’s riverside.
The work in the Riverside Park - formerly Recreation Ground - included pollarding Willow trees along the bank and removing a dead Sycamore.
Pool Recreation Ground Management Committee says the result has been to make the footpath in the area, and the bank itself, more accessible. A spokesman said: “Prior to this work the views of the river were restricted and accessing areas close to the bank was dangerous due to the proximity of overhanging trees.
“The pollarded Willows will soon begin to sprout fresh growth and accommodate the birdlife that the Wharfe supports.”
The work was supported by a grant of £4,950 from Leeds City Council’s Outer North West Community Committee.
