A STUDENT from Otley is returning to the town to help stage a fundraising walk.
Former Prince Henry’s Grammar School pupil Maisie Dixon, now a student at UWE Bristol, will travel to the Fijian islands this summer to volunteer for Think Pacific.
The organisation works to improve health care and educational opportunities for underprivileged children and Maisie, who will live with a local family, needs to raise £2,000 to cover travel costs and additional expenses.
She has organised two guided walks in Otley on Sunday, April 14 - which will be followed by refreshments at Otley Labour Rooms.
Led by Randal Metzger and John Sparshatt of Walkers Are Welcome, both walks start from the Buttercross at 9.45am and consist of a four mile Otley Ramble and a nine mile trek along the Welcome Way, which ends at Ben Rhydding. Participants will be asked to make a £5 donation and should bring their lunch along with water and waterproof shoes or boots.
