ILKLEY in Bloom together with Northern Rail and other volunteers held a litter pick on Wednesday, March 20 under the bridge which goes over the railway from Station Road to Railway Road in Ilkley.
Kate Brown, honorary secretary of Ilkley in Bloom said: "The suggestion was made that an area of land to the side of the path which is currently very sparse could be used for a community garden, planted and maintained by volunteers. The representative from Northern Rail said they would certainly consider this if a plan was put forward. The land would still have to be fenced off for safety reasons so work would need to be on a scheduled basis to allow for entry.
"If anyone is interested in helping with this, or has other suggestions, please could they get in touch with me either on 01943 604521 or by email on kkmbrown@tiscali.co.uk. We can then ascertain whether there is any interest in taking this forward and, if there is, look for obtaining some funding."
