What a week it has been for the city of Brighton and Hove. The weather may not have been great but there has certainly been plenty to celebrate. In football, Albion made it to their first Wembley FA Cup game for 36 years, something you can read more about in the picture on the right. Meanwhile, one Brighton band stormed a hometown gig. And across the city people have been out and about getting the best snaps our fantastic part of the country has to offer. 1. Cup magic

The Argus:

Last Sunday Brighton and Hove Albion came from two goals down to beat Millwall on penalties and make the FA Cup semi-final. They say a picture is worth 1,000 words and @officialbhafc have captured a moment worth so much more in this shot

2. Rising stars

The Argus:

As It Is have been slowly building a fierce reputation for themselves. The rock group grew up in Brighton and last week played to 600 fans at the Concorde 2, their biggest local show to date. It shows just how far they have come. See @asitisofficial for more

3. Stunning sunset

The Argus:

If wouldn’t be a top ten posts without an amazing shot of the sun setting over the coast of Brighton. @joelthorpe is the man responsible for this shot, capturing a lone figure looking out over the sea as the sun goes down. Nature definitely knows how to put on a show

4. Bandstand dancing

The Argus:

Brighton is a city filled with art, whether it’s painting, drawing, acting or dancing. And the best part is you can do it anywhere. Just as @nastakontopidi proves on the band stand

5. Colour collision

The Argus:

A great shot taken by @izarbe.puertolas shows what appears to be students at Sussex University having a fight with colours. It looks like great fun, but a bit messy

6. Waves crashing

The Argus:

The second entry of the week for @lomokev shows the winds having a fierce impact on the shore. But that didn’t stop one brave swimmer from taking to the water. It is unclear whether they are just sitting to take a break or if this was a concious decision to get struck by the waves. But there is no denying that the timing of this shot is phenomenal. To capture the moment just before the waves make impact with this swimmer is simply breathtaking. Some people certainly don’t fear the water at all to get this close when the seas are so rough

7. Seafood tower

The Argus:

If you like seafood then odds are you will love this photo. This tasty tower of crustaceans comes from local fish hotspot @riddleandfinns1. Located in the historic Lanes, this favourite for fresh fish and seafood certainly knows how to serve a mountain of shellfish

8. Seeing double

The Argus:

Instagram user @super_reisen3has managed to get a great photo of the Royal Pavilion. It looks like some editing may have gone into it but it’s not every day you get a shot like this

9. Beautiful Pier

The Argus:

The first of two shots from the @lomokev Instagram page this week, just showing what fantastic shots of the city the page showcases. This one shows beautiful scenes of the English Channel washing onto the shore as the Palace Pier stands tall in the background

10. Pavilion Gardens

The Argus:

The Pavilion Gardens are a favourite spot in the city for both locals and tourists. It’s lovely to sit on the grass and take in the majesty of the amazing structure that is the Pavilion. This photo, taken by @travelweekli, definitely catches what the gardens are all about. Check out their page for more brilliant photographs
