A BREXIT debate in Otley has been postponed.

The event, due to take place on Friday, March 22, will now be held on Friday, March 29 - the day the UK was originally meant to leave the EU.

The postponement, and a shift to a 5pm to 7pm evening slot, was made so that a wider range of speakers, reflecting differing positions, could take part.

The confirmed speakers are: MP Alex Sobel (Lab, Leeds North West); Parliamentary candidates Martin Hemingway (Green) and Kamran Hussain (Lib Dem); Katie Burnett and Steph Lee from Otley BID; and the Conservative city council candidate for Otley and Yeadon, Stewart Harper.

The meeting takes place at the Otley Town Partnership room, on Mercury Row.

Organiser Otley Town Councillor Mick Bradley (Green, Danefield) said: “We have to try to get all sections of the community talking to each other about this as we’ll have to live with the consequences over the years to come.”
