AN OTLEY audience has heard that choice should be key when it comes to women and sanitary towels.
Kauser Mukhtar spoke about Giving Women the Choice - Period at Otley Labour Rooms on Friday, March 8 - International Women’s Day.
The event, a bring and share lunch, was one of several that Otley Women Together had organised to mark the occasion.
The talk explored the situation concerning sanitary towels, and their availability, for girls and women in the UK and globally.
Kauser showed the audience examples of washable and re-usable towels and contrasted their environmental credentials with those of disposable products.
She also talked about the ‘misleading messages’ that advertising companies use in their attempts to persuade women to buy a particular brand. The talk was followed by a question and answer session.
