IN THE West Riding County FA U21 Floodlit Trophy, Thackley defeated Salts 2-1 in a local derby.

Thackley should have been 2-0 ahead after 10 minutes, but they failed to take good chances. In the 13th minute, Adam Hartley deservedly put the Dennyboys ahead with a powerful header from a corner.

Just after the half-hour mark, Joe Storey added a second goal after he stole possession and finished well. Salts reduced the arrears through Sam Boldy in the 50th minute.

Thackley manager Nathan Priestly said: “We kept possession of the ball, especially in the second half, and despite Salts pulling a goal back, we saw the game out."

Brighouse Town U21s drew 3-3 against Tadcaster Albion i2i ISA (Prem Black) in the West Riding County FA Development League.

For the first 30 minutes, Tadcaster were the better side, with Town tending to overplay in the wrong areas.

But against the run of play, Town took the lead and their excellent football enabled them to score twice more.

With the last kick of the first half, Albion reduced the arrears following a free-kick when Brighouse switched off.

Tadcaster scored an early second after the break and, just as it seemed Brighouse had held on, they conceded just before the final whistle.

The goal scorers for Brighouse were Ewan Gardener, Finn Donavon and Regan Metcalfe.

Town assistant manager Barry Thomas said: “We still haven’t learnt how to see out a game."

The U21 match between Campion and Tadcaster Albion U23 i2i ISA (Red) was postponed because the pitch at Manningham Mills was unplayable.

And the Horsfall Stadium pitch wasn't fit to host the U19 match between Bradford (Park Avenue) and Shelley.
