CHILDREN from four Skipton schools joined children at Westville House in Ilkley, for a day filled with logic and problem solving. Run by Mr Chris O’Doherty, Maths Lead at the school, children from Greatwood Community Primary School, Carleton Endowed Primary School, Gargrave Primary School and Christchurch school enjoyed a host of maths activities. From solving Einstein’s logic problems to building trains from dice, escaping the Zombies by numbers to water riddles and number mazes – children were just excited by every activity.

The afternoon proved highly popular when children used a giant inflatable dartboard to create their own number problems.

Mr O’Doherty said: “I have been astounded with the high level of creative thinking and problem-solving ability of every child that attended. Solving the Einstein mega problem in under 30 minutes was unprecedented! It is great to see children genuinely loving the subject of maths”

Westville House offer a number of Gifted and Talented Days across a range of subjects. If you would like your school to be involved call the school on 01943 608053.
