THE BRITISH Heart Foundation will hold its Harewood House Half Marathon this month.
The event, which also includes 10k and 2k runs, will take place on Sunday, February 17.
The extremely hilly route offers a challenging trail run with miles of muddy tracks, steep forest inclines and tree-lined fields, all set within the grounds of the historic stately home. New for 2019 is a 2K family fun run, which is suitable for all ages and abilities.
Around 2,500 people will take part in the event, which is in its fifth year and which is expected expected to raise £120,000 for the British Heart Foundation.
Organisers say participants will be funding life saving research into heart and circulatory disease, which affects an estimated seven million people in the UK.
A spokesman said: “One in four of us in the UK and one in three globally die from heart and circulatory diseases. That’s why the British Heart Foundation funds world-leading research into their causes, prevention, treatment and cure. Advances from our research have saved and improved millions of lives, but heart diseases, stroke, vascular dementia and their risk factors such as diabetes still cause heartbreak on every street. With the public’s support, our funding will drive the new discoveries to end that heartbreak.”
