A FORMER Otley mayor will stand for Labour in the Adel and Wharfedale ward at the next Leeds City Council election.
Nigel Gill, who is a director of Otley Action for Older People, will represent the party in the May, 2019 local elections.
Mr Gill previously stood in the seat in May, 2018. He said: "I would like to thank party members for once again having their faith in me.
"I will be fighting needless cuts from central government that are making some parts of our community suffer. They need a voice."
MP Alex Sobel (Lab, Leeds North West) added: "Nigel would make a fantastic councillor for Adel and Wharfedale.
"He is dedicated, hard working and knows the community like the back of his hand.
"Adel and Wharfedale needs a councillor who will deal with the lack of facilities for young people and issues with transport: Nigel is the right person to do that."
