AN OTLEY singer’s Christmas song has already raised more than £1,400 for charity.
Seventeen year old Emeli Mumford wrote Dear Santa especially for Save the Children, and recorded it with a chorus of local children.
As part of her promotion work for the single - and the charity - Emeli has now talked to more than 1,000 children at school assemblies and given nine public performances.
Last week she visited Save the Children’s charity shop in Wetherby to treat staff and customers to a rendition.
Emeli has sold over 250 CDs since the song’s December 1 release but won’t know has it has fared in downloads until February.
Dear Santa costs 99p and is available from Spotify, Deezer, Amazon Music, Google Play music, iTunes and Apple Music.
A video of the song, which has also featured on a number of TV and radio shows, can be viewed on Emeli’s YouTube channel at https://bit.ly/2G1gCWl .
