MORE details about the redevelopment of a long-closed Otley pub were shared this week.

Information about an extra care development for the former Summercross site, on East Busk Lane, was given at a consultation event at Otley Core on Tuesday, December 11.

Westward Care secured permission to create a 46 bedroom care home nine years ago but the property remains boarded up. The company is now teaming up with a social housing organisation to create a similarly sized ‘housing with care’ facility.

Otley Conservation Task Force Chair Angela Leathley said: “Whilst I welcome this improved development it still needs a number of modifications to make it acceptable to Otley residents.

“It needs much more architectural details on the new build to link it to surrounding properties, the Edwardian villas, and the terraced properties to the south west. It looks quite bland at the moment but, generally, this could be a positive ‘gateway’ building in Otley.”
