A CAROL concert in Horsforth this weekend will help to feed people in need.

The annual event, at St Mary’s Church, Broadgate Lane, is being held in aid of Leeds North and West Food Bank. Christmas at St Mary’s will take place at 3pm on Sunday, December 16. The music will be provided by The Leeds Guild of Singers, a chamber choir directed by Jonathan Eyre.

A spokeswoman for the event said: “This concert has become a tradition in St Mary’s and as usual there will be a service of readings and carols, both choral and congregational. Tickets on the door cost £5 and cover wine and mince pies following the concert. The concert this year is in aid of Leeds North and West Food Bank. Horsforth’s Food Bank run by Horsforth Churches Together, which operates in Lister Hill Baptist Church on Wednesdays and Saturdays, is part of this larger area and in these days of austerity plays a vital part in keeping struggling families, and in particular their children, fed.”
