LABOUR has announced its Otley and Yeadon ward candidate for next year’s Leeds City Council elections.
Elliot Nathan will be trying to unseat Liberal Democrat Councillor Ryk Downes - one of three Lib Dem councillors currently representing the ward - in May, 2019.
Mr Nathan, who has worked as a postman, town planner and civil servant and is a trade unionist, said: “I’m very pleased to have been chosen to stand for election.
“I want to shake things up and get more action on the issues that matter. Traffic congestion, the lack of affordable housing, poor public transport, reviving the high street, and school places are some of the issues that come up when I talk to people.”
MP Alex Sobel (Lab, Leeds North West) added: “Elliot is very hardworking and would be an excellent councillor for Otley and Yeadon.”
