PAT’S Party bonfire night 2018 took place on Saturday with all money raised going towards Save the Children.
The event is held annually at 27, Moorfield Road, Ben Rhydding. Local children - Suki, Mylan, Stanley, Seren, Luke and Siobhan - worked hard on the night to sell glow wrist bands with all the money going to Save the Children in Gambia.
They made £34 for the charity which they handed over at the end of the evening on the stage.
Mylan had bought the wrist bands with his birthday money and after a short discussion had decided rather than making money to buy football cards, the children in the Gambia were a much more worthy course. A spokesperson said: “Well done to all the kids. We are very proud of them.”
Pat’s Party began in 2004 and commemorates the life of Pat Evens, a local parent who initiated the first party but who died within a year of the first event.
Thanks to generous support from Ben Rhydding Primary School families, local businesses, and the broader community, Pat’s Party has donated approximately £100,000 to Save the Children. The money has saved and improved the lives of countless children.
