ILKLEY-based NG Bailey is helping to support vital research into finding a cure for dementia by raising £112,193 for Alzheimer’s Research UK. The company has beaten its target of fundraising £75,000 during its 15-month partnership with the charity.

Fundraising events have included everything from a chilli eating competition and quizzes, to a backward sailing challenge.

NG Bailey also worked to develop employees’ understanding about dementia, helping Alzheimer’s Research UK to pilot and launch its Learning Calendar. The calendar offers monthly talks and information for employees on different topics related to dementia. The resource is now used by businesses across the country, helping thousands of people develop their knowledge of dementia and to combat common misconceptions about the condition.

David Hurcomb, chief executive officer at NG Bailey, said: “Our charity of the year partnership is a core element of how we give back to the communities in which we work. Our employees chose to support Alzheimer’s Research UK and we are thrilled to have exceeded our original fundraising target.”
