ON Saturday, November 10, Ilkley Choral and Otley Choral Societies are holding a concert to commemorate the centenary of WWI Armistice in St Margaret’s Church at 7pm. They are performing Elgar’s Lux Aeterna, Elgar’s Spirit of England and Haydn’s Mass in Time of War.
The concert also includes solo songs and readings of contemporary war poems by Wharfedale Performing Arts Festival multi-winner, Romany Branston, 13 of Guiseley. The performances are accompanied by Christopher Rathbone and conducted by Yonni Levy. Tickets are £14, available on the door, online or from Grove Bookshop music and Brown’s Gallery, Otley .
On Monday, November 12 the choir is holding an open rehearsal . If you have ever wanted to have a go at singing Handel’s Messiah go to Christchurch at 7.30pm and join the choir for their rehearsal. Music will be provided, or bring your own copy. The session will be conducted by Tom Newall, from Manchester.
