A NEW dance class aimed at older residents will start in Otley this month.

Dance On, which is designed to tackle inactivity among those aged 55 and over, is being funded by Sport England.

Dance On classes are being delivered through a partnership between One Dance UK, Yorkshire Dance and darts (Doncaster Community Arts) at locations around Leeds, Bradford and Doncaster.

In Otley the sessions will be hosted by Otley Action for Older People and held at the Methodist Church - where a free 'taster' class will take place from 2pm to 3pm on Tuesday, October 30.

The sessions will then run at the same time each Tuesday, with an admission price of £4.

Otley-based Hannah Robertshaw, the Programmes Director at Yorkshire Dance, said: "We are so delighted to launch a new Dance On class in Otley as part of our rapidly expanding programme of work with older adults.

"We are dedicated to bringing the most artistic and joyful experiences to the communities we work with, and to seeing all the benefits of dance – companionship, fun, exercise and more – blossoming in our Otley group."
