AN EVENING of al fresco singing will take place in Otley next week.

Woolpack Music Studios will hold Choirs in the Courtyard, featuring outdoor performances from three local groups, on Thursday, July 19.

The choirs will perform on the studio's forecourt, which faces onto Bondgate, from 7.30pm.

Otley’s Courthouse Choir, led by Dave Stewart, will be first up and will be followed by Good in Parts and then Otley A Cappella - the Woolpack's own, in-house choir.

Director of the Woolpack Studios and Co-director of Otley A Cappella, Richard Sabey, said: "My colleague Jen Birch and I decided that it would be a lovely summer evening idea to have a choir festival out on our front yard.

"There will be a wide selection of music with something for everyone.

"We’ll be singing arrangements of songs ranging from Nina Simone to the Stray Cats, via Ultravox!

"We will also have our own licensed bar with beer, wine and soft drinks so people can enjoy not only the music but also a relaxing drink in the evening sunshine."

The event is non-ticketed so anyone interested is invited to just turn up.

The bar will be open from 7pm with the music beginning at 7.30pm.
