KNITTED bears and plenty of marmalade were the order of the day when Rawdon took on a Paddington theme for its annual village show.

Bear themed entries from all ages demonstrated the creative skills of local people, and a wide range of entertainment was on offer at the event, which was staged at Rawdon Community Library and Micklefield Park on Saturday, June 30.

Highlights included performances from Guiseley Brass Band and the Peace Dance Academy, as well as a visit from the fire brigade. Other local organisations present included Trinity Church, Rawdon In Bloom and Rawdon WI, with refreshments from the Book Shelf Cafe. There were also bear themed poems and Paddington pop up scenes.

The sixth village Show was organised by the volunteers who run Rawdon Community Library. All proceeds will go to the library, which is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Different groups that are based there include French conversation, creative writing, gardening and local history. There is also weekly storytelling for children.
