AN OTLEY church's decision to hold carnival day teas has paid off in style again.
The Bridge Church served up refreshments on its lawn - with seats offering a great view of the passing carnival parade - on Saturday, June 16.
The annual event proved a hit and generated £830 for the church's charity for the year, Feed the Minds.
Colin Whitaker from The Bridge Church said: "We were busy as soon as our tents were set up and there was somewhere to sit for refreshments whilst waiting for the carnival procession to pass by the church.
"We were pleased to have Matt Wright, a fundraising support officer from Feed the Minds - which helps marginalised people transform their lives through adult education in the global south - with us for the day.
"He worked very hard, helping to serve our customers and clear tables as well as sharing information about the work of the charity!
"As well as raising funds the church also uses the event to make our presence in the town felt on carnival day, by offering refreshments, friendship and an opportunity to use the church facilities and show visitors our wonderful building, plus some of the work we do in Otley."
