A NEW sign has been installed in Darwin Gardens in Ilkley to help walkers navigate Ilkley Moor.

The Friends of Ilkley Moor (FoIM) and Ilkley Town Council jointly commissioned local artist Hattie Clark to provide a schematic map of the Moor to help walkers be more aware of the notable places on the Moor. It was put in place by FoIM volunteers last week ready for use by summer visitors.

A spokesman for the FoIM said: "The Friends of Ilkley Moor are celebrating our first ten years. During that time we have contributed money and volunteer labour to help promote and protect the Moor. One of our most important tasks has been to improve and maintain the footpaths that give access to the Moor.

"At the same time Ilkley Town Council have been looking for ways to inform visitors to Darwin Gardens, immediately adjacent to the Moor, of the notable places on the Moor and the paths to them."

Prints of the map are available from the Treasurer of The Friends of Ilkley Moor.
