OVER a thousand people turned out on a very sunny Sunday afternoon on June 10 to see 3,500 ducks race at a fairly leisurely pace on the River Wharfe.
Many congratulations to the three winning duck owners: Harvey Bosomworth, Lucy Simpson and David Grant.
Burley-in-Wharfedale Community Trust would like to thank everyone who helped make the event such a big success, including Police Constable Martin Brearley and the PCSOs who helped with the safe crossing across the A65, and the Red Lion pub who displayed the winning ducks on an Olympic-style podium!
Proceeds are split between the Burley Scout Hut appeal and the Community Trust. The Scouts and Guides hosted a wonderful ‘teas on the green’ event after the duck race.
