JET2 has been ranked as the UK's best low cost airline - and one of the best in the world.

The airline, based at Leeds Bradford Airport in Yeadon, triumphed in the 2018 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards.

It won the Best Airline UK and Best Low-Cost Airline Europe prizes for the second year running, as well as scooping the Best Economy Class - Europe award.

On top of that the airline was the only British and European company to be recognised as one of the top ten in the world - making seventh place.

The awards were based on the quantity and quality of airline reviews and ratings for airlines that were submitted on the TripAdvisor website by travellers worldwide, over 12 months.

Almost 90 per cent of the nearly 10,000 reviews that were posted for rated the airline as excellent or very good.

Travellers particularly praised the business's customer service, cleanliness, value for money and check-in and boarding services.

The company's other recent accolades include being the only UK airline to be recognised by Which? as a Recommended Provider for two consecutive years. began operating from Leeds Bradford Airport in 2003 and has grown to established further bases at Manchester, Belfast International, Edinburgh, Newcastle, East Midlands, Glasgow, Alicante, Birmingham and London Stansted airports.

The airline is now the UK's fourth biggest, carrying seven million passengers a year.
