POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a 'failure to stop; crash at Askwith.

The incident happened on West Lane at about 3.15pm on Saturday, March 10 and involved a bicycle and a red car.

Both vehicles are believed to have been travelling from the Ilkley direction, towards Askwith, when the accident happened.

The cyclist, a 23 year old woman from the Leeds area, was taken by ambulance to hospital with serious, but not life threatening, injuries.

The motorist failed to stop at the scene and enquiries are continuing to trace the red vehicle and its driver.

Officers from North Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Group would like to speak to anyone who saw the crash or was in the area at the time.

They would also like anyone with dashcam footage from the area to get in touch.
