A CALL has gone out for more trustees for Ilkley’s Manor House.
Cllr Brian Mann said at the moment there were only about four or five trustees in position but there was scope for up to a dozen. He told a meeting of Ilkley Parish Council that younger people would be preferable.
The transformation of the Manor House began last year after the trust which was formed to turn it into a vibrant tourist destination was awarded a grant.
The money - £5,000 - from the Architectural Heritage Fund enabled the start of the long process of refurbishing the historic house and cottages, with a view to bringing them back into use for the benefit of the wider community.
The trust is hoping to create a heritage, arts and community centre for the town. The Manor House is seen as a great asset to the Ilkley community, as well as a place where local groups can meet and where exhibitions can be held.
