OTLEY students have donated all kinds of essential goods to help local refugees.
Pupils from across the years at Prince Henry’s Grammar School, led by its Global Justice Group, held a collection at the end of last term.
Dozens of boxes of donations, including tinned and dried foods and toiletries, were then packed up to be collected by Positive Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers (PAFRAS) in Leeds
Assistant Headteacher at Prince Henry's, Christopher Lillington, said: "It has been very moving to see the response to the appeal in school.
"We ask our students to take their responsibility as global citizens very seriously and their generosity shows what thoughtful young people they are."
Inspired by the work of organisations like Amnesty International, the school's Global Justice Group meets regularly and leads the student body in moves to put the concept of global citizenship into action.
That includes lobbying for social justice and raising awareness of human rights abuses.
Representatives of the group also attended the recent PeaceJam UK event in Leeds, where they met Nobel Peace Laureate Mairéad Maguire.
