THE PROBLEM of flooding on a footpath which is used by schoolchildren could be tackled if councillors agree £5,000 for repair work.

The well-used public footpath, which runs between South Lee and Church Lane, in Horsforth has been an issue for some time and ward councillor Dawn Collins has been pushing Leeds City Council to take action to resolve the problem.

Cllr Collins is hoping that plans for £5000 worth of improvements to the footpath are approved by fellow councillors when an application for funding goes before the North West Outer Community Committee meeting on Monday, November 28.

Cllr Collins said: "I have been asking the Council to take some action on this footpath for some time. It’s well used by many people, particularly young people going to and from from Horsforth School. It’s not pleasant for them to have to sit at school with wet feet and it’s not pleasant for parents to be constantly laundering dirty clothing.

"I hope my fellow councillors on the North West Outer Community Committee support this drainage work and approve the request for £5000 funding from the Committee’s Wellbeing Fund."

The request for the funding has come from Leeds City Council’s Parks and Countryside Department, which would carry out the work to install a drainage system.
