POOL-IN-WHARFEDALE'S Village Memorial Hall will officially reopen this weekend following a major revamp.
The Arthington Lane building has had its main hall – The Whiteley Room – refurbished and a new upper room created above the old stage area.
The work – the first stage of a planned three phase scheme – took five months to complete, though the main hall had only to be closed for one of these, and cost just under £70,000.
A grand opening to show off the results will take place between 1.30pm and 4pm on Saturday.
John Porter, of Pool Village Memorial Hall Committee, said he is delighted with the "very high standard" of the improvements.
He added: "The new upper room provides a relaxing, multi-functional room, with casual seating for up to 20 people.
"The room is decorated and upholstered to a very high standard, with tub chairs and occasional tables, and has a small kitchen area for light refreshments.
"The room also has wonderful views across the cricket pitch, Pool Riverside Park and the River Wharfe towards Almscliffe Crag."
Both rooms are available for rent, either separately or together. E-mail to cec.robson@yahoo.co.uk or visit poolinwharfedale.wordpress.com/pool-village-hall for more details.
