Pool 1 Shelley 2

THE vastly-improved Shelley team arrived at Pool on the back of a string of good results and secured another West Yorkshire League Premier Division win.

Their strong attack gave the Pool defence problems and they went ahead from a penalty after an altercation between Grant Bligh and a visitors forward.

Pool felt they should have had a penalty when Nick Hewitt was bundled over but the referee awarded a free kick on the edge of the area.

Shelley extended their lead at the start of the second half, but Pool were quick to respond, two forwards being brought down right on the goalline by the Shelley keeper. Tom Fleming converted the resulting penalty.

Pool generally had more possession than Shelley, and created more opportunities, but rarely made the keeper work. That said their performance was well worth a point, so they could consider themselves a little unlucky.
