A NEW digital care hub has opened at Airedale Hospital.

It has replaced the telemedicine hub in the day hospital at the Steeton site and is based in the former ward 15, which has been refurbished as part of the £200,000 scheme.

The new hub features 23 screened work stations for nurses and room for all digital care services.

It houses services including the intermediate care hub, Gold Line – which provides care for residents in the last year of their lives – and the telemedicine initiative, which serves more than 300 care homes and about 100 people in their own homes.

There are also separate rooms for private consultations and the telemedicine service for prisons.

The hub is located near the general wards and emergency department, making it more accessible to consultants and nursing staff.

Marie Buchan, digital care hub manager at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said: "The hub will help us transform the way we deliver care by using new technology to provide 24-hour services, seven days a week, to be more responsive to the needs of our patients."

David Moss, the trust's interim deputy director of strategy, business development, estates and facilities, said: "We are delighted with the new premises."
